garrett pro pointer
« on: April 26, 2015, 01:32:03 PM »
my garrett pointer  seems to be playing up a bit as in it cant seem to cut through clods /plugs of earth like it used to though it does rattle a bit down a hole if the item is still in there but I need to be quite close to the find for it to sound , I have changed the batteries twice to no avail I now have to pull the clod apart just to be sure and also dig a bit deeper before pinpointing does this make sense guys /gals.

ive heard if you put a bit of cardboard on the back of the battery to hold it down then screw in the top, this might help, otherwise its inside thats causing it, like the button for example, but worth a try.

Yes it certainly does,.... for such a good detector that is one of its bad points, loose battery,... but as you say, some sort of packing solves the problem completly,.. stuff the inside of the cap with the padding

Then buy a waterproof cover for it, at £6 that solves all problems with mud and water getting into the buton and speaker hole

Always make sure when actually turning it on that it is well away from any metal object.
