This is what i use Jim ? But if you use the Shell or Esso premium fuels it contains cleaner anyway so works oot more economical in the long run (pun intended)  :P
Your Frenchie shouldn`t be fitted with one ? 2.0HDi ?

Aye,good stuff the old Redex mate , I usually gut oot the "cats" from the diesels as they (after a lot of miles ) choke up the EGR valves etc ,nightmare  ::)
The DPF can get cut out but the ECU has to be re mapped to remove its functions .This costs about £450 no problems after that  8) 8)

DPF`s were introduced with the Euro 5 emission guidelines in 2009 ;
Euro 5
September 2009 (January 2011)

Euro 5 further tightened the limits on particulate emissions from diesel engines and all diesel cars needed particulate filters to meet the new requirements. There was some tightening of NOx limits too (28% reduction compared to Euro 4) as well as, for the first time, a particulates limit for petrol engines - applicable to direct injection engines only.

Addressing the effects of very fine particle emissions, Euro 5 introduced a limit on particle numbers for diesel engines in addition to the particle weight limit.  This applied to new type approvals from September 2011 and to all new diesel cars from January 2013.

So in other words it`s no going to the atmosphere its sticking in yer engine costing YOU money when it chokes up ! Yeah Euro  :-X

Hi all.  Firstly, thanks again to everyone for the invaluable feedback which I have really appreciated and which was most helpful.  I also learned some great stuff for the future!

Secondly, after due deliberation  -  and despite the obvious temptation  -  I have decided that mpg is more important to me than 4wd, given that I'm just a poor pensioner and I invariably do 2,500 -  3,000 miles per month.

Additionally, because of that substantial mileage, big car comfort is very nice to have as it makes the traveling more pleasant for me and for my passenger(s).

I've also decided that in the meantime I might as well just travel to the more local (less far away) Digs too, and if my car does collapse, well, so be it!

I miss the Digs and the company !!

Hope to see you all soon.

Bob.
