  Found today little hole is confusing me is it a brooch or not ?

Looks like brass from photo and maybe part of a window catch or some such.

.... Or of course it could be Roman!

It's a puzzle.

I've got a book with a wide range of different Roman and Celtic brooches and its just not matching any of them.  None of the examples have the hole on top and none show as obvious a hinge .....
But that's not to say it's not  :laugh: (nothing like hedging your bets  :laugh: )

Holes off Centre , it looks old , nice patina , don't think Roman

Doesn't look like a brooch,more like a catch of some sort. Also looks like brass from the photos.
