BEACH DETECTING 2017 - Dumbarton foreshore
« on: January 10, 2017, 08:37:27 PM »
Hi all ,

Just my 2nd beach hunt since start of 2017 and took a wee trip up to Dumbarton foreshore just to scoop up the usual bullets and
musket balls as my local beaches are well sanded in at the moment . Hissin down with heavy rain showers ,extreme hail showers and
windy.Never perturbed by weather I soldiered on through the squalls scooping the usual boring bullets etc as "expected" ...started heading back to Robbie,s car in the far distance ...only to hear a nicer tone from the Ctx after the mind numbing lead tones !!!

Nice but worn George II Irish halfpenny .... made the trip worthwhile just for that as coins are few and elusive from past hunts there .

NB ......I did not seek permission first before detecting this apparently "Ancient" foreshore , Robbie is a witness to me digging the coin, I do not buy coins or other similar stuff from Ebay ,and although I make "only a few"crudely made beach videos I do not ask for subscriptions ,likes, comments etc , I dont ALLWAYS find something great in each of my hunt videos , and as my eyesight is getting worse , those "eyes only" finds....... identifying the coins ,objects and their metallurgic origin before picking them up is difficult !!!!   lol  ;)

Any similarity to actual events or persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental. All eluded characters and events depicted in this post and comments are entirely fictitious. Any similarity to actual events or persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.

GL and HH to all in 2017 , surf and turf

Thanks Budge ,Bruno, Oldblue and Alan ...just the start of the 2017 season although I detect all year round . I dont normally post nor comment on others Alan as you say .  Im just a beach detectorist and my finds are mainly Victorian stuff , I recall when we met on Saltcoats beach last year I tried to explain that the misconception of myself in here is not " I dont like the turf " ....Couldnt be further from the truth ...I love seeing every members more historical finds and gush at the thought of one day experiencing digging such finds . For me to share my joyous and envious feelings of admiration of members finds would keep me awake posting 24/7 . Hence I dont , but rather silently appreciate each and all without comment . I merely post in the" beach detecting section " within the forum to encourage those members who do or wish to try this sphere. Had a decent 2016 year , copious Viccy stuff and my last four December hunts in just one small rocky patch at Saltcoats scooped 4 gold rings . Hope you and Norry are well and deffo be happy to bump into you on a beach this year .Hoping to manage some digs this year to allay any misconceptions !!!!  lol
GL and HH to all ....surf or turf  !!!!   :)

Still great detail left on it after being kicked around in the surf. Well done on your finds, hoping to have a go at it myself this year for a change.

Well done - all I ever found there was nuts and bolts, nails and washers, all while up to my butt in mud!

Well done on braving the elements out on the Foreshore Dougie, and it's a nice wee Georgian that you've managed to winkle out between the bullets.  ;)
