Any ideas DS183?
« on: February 06, 2017, 09:55:23 AM »
Found this yesterday in the seeded field but I am not sure what it is so any ideas would be welcome.  It is not lead but probably a copper alloy of some kind.

I was using my XP Deus with 11" coil and Gary's Cold program.  Great day out by the way so thanks to organisers/mods.
I will put up more photos of other finds in a wee while.
Howard.

That's a dong of a gong! At a guess, a plough-horse harness decoration...  :)

Thanks Dave I did wonder if it could be horse harness related.

Interesting find, I can only think of a pendant of some kind.

I sent TT a photo of this find and Natasha is wanting to see it.  I described it as bronze or copper alloy with a concave reverse.  It seems to have been made in a mould and someone else has suggested a possible Roman horse harness pendant.  mmm probably too much to hope for.  Suppose you never know, a couple of Roman coins came up from that field.
