I am showing this on behalf of John R. Smith. It is about the size of a twenty pence piece. Does anyone have any ideas?
Howard.

Hi Howard. Any chance you can make out any lettering? Photoshop ain't helping! The closest I can get is 2 or 3 of the 'Shire' regiments (Cheshire, Lincolnshire, Worcester) or as Spectra says Guards, or Dragoons. Collar or lapel badges. Perhaps fire service. Police tend to have a crown, but it could be; I'm not an expert. Cheers!

Thanks for replies guys. I don't have it now Dave so cannot look any closer for any wording but when John gave it to me for the photo we both could not make out anything. Thanks for your help anyway.
Howard.

I immediately thought of the Fire Service. But looked at my lapel badge from the 1977 Fire Strike, serving in RAF at time and went to Bromley in Kent, but it has a crown on the top of the badge. But the rest looks very similar.

Hi Howard, here's a punt... I was taking another look at that badge, and I think it is a
WW1, 4th Royal Irish Dragoon Guards, Brass, Pouch Badge
given its size. I think your pic has the badge inverted. If you compare the two pics below, you can just make out the shamrock shape in the centre, and
EPAR
at the top, and some X's and I's from the date underneath. 'Course it could all be wishful peering... and I stand to be corrected... Cheers!
