Sunday 27th Oct Montrose area dig

Lovely weather, two large stubble fields, who could ask for more - well could have done with the stubble being a bit shorter or softer but plenty to go at. Fields threw up plenty of scrap lead and a couple of identifiable pieces ie fishing weight / plumb weight / spindle whorl, not sure which, size of the hole through centre looks like spindle whorl but shape and weight not consistent and also a bag seal larger than the average. A few blank Georgian coppers but one George IV penny identifiable, a blank Turner and milled silver in shape of George ll sixpence love token. Also found a very small cannon but not sure if of the type that could have been used with black powder. Found plenty of buttons large and small plus the usual non-ferrous stuff we find in most fields.Well done to those of us who were lucky enough to find the hammies, must be getting around to my turn

Great finds and thanks for posting. Your lead wotsit could be a loom weight used in the weaving process.

I think you’re right that kids used to fire those toy cannons. Even seems to have a primer hole... if that’s what it’s called. Good find all the same.
So what chords you working on, can see a couple of D’s, not much to go on from my end...🤓

Thanks for the comments guys and I'll go with the loom weight idea, size and shape about right having looked on the web. Sam the music on the flip side is the Primrose Polka for piano accordion, a practice piece of mine.
