This is a beautiful find by AJS67 / Alex, with a couple of suggestions for ID, buckle, dagger chape, but it is definitely a zoomorphic beast and its of considerable age. Let us know if you get a definite ID Alex, its a cracker.

Nice selection of finds there, well done to all.

The silver item maybe a bookmark. Originally it would have been flat with a tassel attached to the loop. Nice find whatever it turns out to be.

Good quality pics as well, always appreciated :)
Cheers.

* Update from TT *  - Iron Age / Roman Curator has had an initial look at my zoomorphic artefact .. Defo not Roman , possibly Romanesque  .. they will let me know more when they get a proper look at it .

Re: Roman brooch from Strathkinnes.

What a find! Well dug that man :).

Seems to be a Roman ‘dolphin’ brooch design. Must be an early one, would be good to hear what TT say...
