Pair of hours detecting
« on: September 15, 2011, 01:35:00 PM »
Having missed the latest dig but felt the full force of the storm at Portavadie with not even a short chance of a detecting session due to the horizontal rain, siezed the chance for a couple of hours out locally yesterday.
Hard going with springy stubble and ground water filling the holes, sticky clay just added to the joy of the occasion, just one straight line sweep up the field boundry.

Found the normal amounts of lead plus fragments of copper inc copper pipe plus these three coins (2 pennies and prob halfpenny) a Primus Valve and a very nice small dome shaped button still showing gold gilt, probably a ladies button.

Fairly hard going with just the button as a worthwhile find, ahh still there is always the next session, possibly around Tarbert West Loch Fyne, Argyllshire this weekend (weather depending, lol) ;)

This hobby brings the worst out in the ODD individual, however thankfully brings out the best in the majority of individuals.......Learnt by experience

nice button , decorative buttons were not just the domain of the faier sex as there was no clear difference in fancy buttons between the sexes apart from military in the georgian/victorian era , male and female clothes were adorned with fancy flowery buttons .
