Anyone know what this is ?

Found this a while ago and always wondered what it was....I know its modern, its plain on the underside and has a sort of swivel suspension loop on top & some markings ????

The hinged lid only from a set of nested cup-weights. It was originally attached to the outer cup of the set, and retains its hinge-lug and catch also the suspension loop. The assembly of the outer cup and its lid provided the largest denomination weight in the set, and it is therefore stamped with a fleur-de-lis verification mark. early 19thc .... nice find

Thanks Guys for your spot on ID - I have found quite a few of the cup weights over the years but never realised that this was connected. Well pleased to finally know what this is. Great link to the website too...... ;D
