Weekend Wanderers Finds
« on: September 26, 2012, 06:02:52 PM »
It was a long round trip to Oxford with mixed results for me.
Friday was good Saturday ok and Sunday a wash out.

Here are some of my finds. Sorry about quality just took them out of the olive oil to photograph them! They look better in real life.

Descriptions from FLO on site. From the top (12 O'clock)   Possible roman grotty minum, Medieval buckle and plate 1350 - 1400 (I managed to break about an inch of the plate putting it in my finds box), Charles I Rose Farthing, Nuremburg Jetton, Medieval English Jetton with Front facing sterling bust (probably Edward), some other type of Charles I farthing token.

And saving best for last in the centre is an Iron Age Celtic coin. It is a bronze unit from the Trinovantes tribe. Ruler is Addedomaros. circa late 1st century BC. Horse facing left and head facing right. I had a few other medieval bits and pieces and some worn Georgian coppers.

Congratulation Stuart on making such good finds !! Its the wide variety of finds that can be made down south that can make the very long journey down worthwhile. I once wen't down for a one day rally and it took me about a week to recover. Thanks for showing us your finds, a few really interesting ones thats for sure.

Nice collection of finds Stuart. Well winkled.  ;D We will have to start a DS Celtic coin group. ::) ::) We now have three members, Gemma, yourself and me. Only rule would be that the member found and dug the coin themselves !!! ;)
