Old metal beret/cap badges
« on: October 29, 2013, 09:42:45 PM »
Hey all, I've been researching some of the various badges I've dug over the last few years with some interesting results.

Unfortunately rusted badges from the ground have no value as oppose to nice clean shiny specimens you might find on ebay but I'm not interested in monetary value just interested in the sheer variety especially being ex military myself!

If anyone has any such items they have no use for or interest in I'd gratefully accept them to add to my fledgling collection  :)

Any ideas on this Grant? Obviously St Andrew...Found about a year ago, it's about 4 cm top to bottom. Cap badge maybe?

I found one very similar at DS51 and me and Grant ID it as a Queens own Cameroon Highlanders badge  pre 1881

Whilst it would be crass of me to disagree with our exhaulted leader. I think it could be a Black Watch Sporran Badge.  I think it quite unusual to have a slider going in a horizontal direction.

It is I think a Cameron Highlanders Sporran Badge.
Not Cameroon as in your post.   :o

I collected for years whilst in the prison service, got rid when I went to Saudi. Regrets.

Sorry I missed this mate, agree it's Cameron highlanders sporran badge.

I've got both volumes of Kipling & King which are brilliant books for id-ing these.

Great find Stevie, I've still to find my first sporran badge
