The best book I`ve ever seen for Scottish coins (although present values are well out of date) is the Coincraft Scottish coin book. It has pictures of every known Scottish coin known up to the publication date in the late 1990`s. I picked up an unused copy for £12 a few years ago. :)

Highly recommend the Coincraft standard catalogue of Scotland Ireland Channel Islands and Isle of Man, published 1999.  Tons of info and at present my bible.  As a price guide anything in region of  15-25 pounds   sterling will get one in top condition second hand.

Another book you might find of interest is 'Scottish Coins, a history of small change in Scotland' (NMS Publishing) by Nicholas Holmes.

It has a reasonable selection of illustrations and descriptions of coins from Roman, up to 1997, but it also covers the background history, use, and how much stuff cost.

I found it a fascinating book to read, and although it's marked £5.99, I'm sure it was discounted.
