1825 Shilling
« on: December 29, 2013, 04:55:23 PM »
Hi,

I found this today and it made me start thinking about where to I could check the 'rarity' of common coins. Can anyone suggest a good website which details the versions which are considered rare and what makes them rare i.e. what distinguishing features to look for?

Thanks,
Martin

Hi Thorfinn,

Thanks .

1s      1825t2  20      50      150     500
1s      1825/3t2        ex rare
1s      1825t3  6       20      60      200
1s      I825t3  ex rare
t2: 1st bust, second reverse
t3: 2nd bust, third reverse
The rare 1825 type 3 has a capital i as the first numeral rather than a number 1.

I did have a look at that site but couldnt identify which coin I have. I dont know what the first or second busts look like.

Thanks,
Martin

You have the type 3 (tousle haired lol) without the date error

Sorry mate, I'd have lived to say it was the error one which is I825 rather than 1825

Great find though! Last one I had was 3 years ago, it was 1829 though
