« on: August 17, 2014, 05:34:28 PM »
Hi Folks,

There is a special offer in today's Sunday Post worth checking out.

The Catalogue Of Scottish Coins mixed in with the rest of the British Isles by CoinCraft and in Hardback at a reduced price well worth getting for coin research!

...it's a great book for the legends, but the coin images are not great, although the glossy paper is better than the version for the English coinage. Good buy and very handy to have on your bookshelf!!!

some folks on Facebook have just pointed and I have not seen this myself but there is additional cost involved over postage packing and handling charges, the book itself cane be obtained from Coincraft themselves at the same price, another flaw that someone has pointed out is that the book is 15 years out of date.

But as P0k3Rman has stated it is still a good buy for reference purposes and if you are an avid coin collector!

I bought a copy of this book years ago from a coin shop in York that was closing down. Although it is now old and the values given for coins are out of date I still think it is probably the best book on the market for identifying Scottish coins !! :D

Is it better than the Spinks 2003 one?

In my opinion it is a better book than the Spinks. Although it does not use the accepted universal numbering system it is a much bigger book and has a  lot more pictures and info. than the Spink !!

...it actually compliments it and both should be acquired if you like your coins  ;) :D
