Sheriffmuir survey
« on: January 30, 2018, 09:55:04 PM »
We had a good day out today helping with the battle field survey before all the trees are planted. Hard going terrain (3ft deep furrows to work in) but all good fun.

A few finds turned up, musket balls, a bayonet tip, couple of coins, a cracking flint arrow head. The survey is ongoing so I’m sure more finds will turn up as they move to different areas.

Cheers and good luck to all involved.

I’ll try and get some pics up if the site allows me...

Great find Alan. Eyes must be sharp as a tack.

Sam, was any further dates given. Had to wrap it at 3pm yesterday owing to an engagement.

Just wondered if anybody had contact details for Gavin from Montrose and Grant from Inchinnan who were also there yesterday? My email address is grdunb@aol.com

Next Thursday the 8th is the next date being suggested if anyone can come along, supposedly only a 10th of the ground was covered yesterday so ideally we are looking for more people.

Let me know if you are interested under this thread please,  if your details were taken yesterday I'm sure you will also be contacted via your given method of contact.

Hi Caberfeidh,

That's excellent. Meet up time is 9.30 at this point on the map, point marked pylon line gateway, that may however be subject to change, the time won't be but meeting point may be, if there's any change I will notify you as soon as I know.

 Jon.

Thanks very much Sam, not been told of any changes so far but I'm also tucked up with what seems like the flu so not had a chance to try and speak with anyone, all the best  :)
