It would be good to have a few digs but as was mentioned a dig every week is a bit much for yourself to organise as folk should realise that you have a life beyond detecting Scotland
I know that some Sundays I'm at work and can't make digs but it's good to see on the forum some of the treasures that people find
So go for it and see

Speaking for myself  and being totally selfish, the more Dig opportunities there are the happier I am. That's not to say I would or could go to them all, but IF they were there, I'd choose which suited me best on a one by one basis.

I suppose that translates to being an 'expression of interest' rather than any kind of commitment, which is as good as no good to someone trying to figure out if it's worth it.

I suspect that there are a few others who might feel the same, but I can only speak for me.

It can certainly be a solo hobby, but there's no doubt that it's much more fun and more enjoyable when there are other folk there to banter with and share experiences.

Best of luck with the resurrection process... I'll be watching to see what happens.

Bob.

Hi Grant,
if you're listening, what Uncle Bob just said (1st June) A good number of digs by some groups are just too far for me to travel to every week. On a selfish level, it would be good to have the extra venue to choose from.

Metal detecting is definately something best done as a group. As well as the social side, it provides a 'hive' mind allowing us to collectively sample the fields across a farm and identify hotspots, either by area, or farm or by individual field. Something it would take years to do on our own.

To be fair mate i think forums are falling by the wayside. Social media like facebook etc is taking over by all accounts. Maybe start a private ds group on facebook for the digs. Could generate alot of interest with a decent target audience.
