Title: silvers turners and a little medieval :)
Post by: fraxis1985 on October 23, 2015, 10:43:28 AM
Hey guys, managed a bit detecting  yesterday and needless to say I wasn't disappointed. All in all this hobby has its UPS and downs but yesterday was an upper and first time I felt I had had my fix in a long time lol  :D . Managed lots of pieces including the usual bag seals and buttons. My best finds were 3 half pennies, 5 turners, silver hat trick including a viccy sixpence, thimble and pencil topper. To top it all off one of my last signals was this ( correct me if I'm wrong as I only guessing lol) lovely early medieval zoomorphic hunting lead swivel mount, cheers for looking guys will be back out again on sat  ;)

a little image I found.

I found this medieval zoomorphic hunting swivel which is on page one but never really knew an age to it. Natasha had confirmed it was medieval and I thought maybe early medieval. I found this image the other day which might give me a date and it looks very similar. amazing what you find scouring the net :)

...I would agree with Eddy, the stud is actually a knop of a tobacco jar lid 1600 - 1800. Almost identical examples here: https://finds.org.uk/database/search/results/objectType/TOBACCO+HOLDER/sort/workflow (https://finds.org.uk/database/search/results/objectType/TOBACCO+HOLDER/sort/workflow)

Hi guys, was out with s Garrett yesterday and it was a great day think it was due to us field hopping a lot and my silver streak was broken  :(. So today I decided to head back out to see if I was allowed back on the silver train. Here's my finds, good few George third coppers and such, three turners and a token, massive lead weight, musket balls and bag seals. No Russian flax seals which was a bit weird and a nice wee viccy shilling 1867, I'm back on the train lol  ;)

Well managed out with s Garrett for a bit today althou we were both in different fields. Wasn't long before I got a choo choo messaged from stuart who was boarding the silver train with a george v sixpence. Not longer after I got the message I boarded myself lol with this tiny little silver American three cent from 1852, seems someone has made it into a pendant  ;)
