Charity dig coin
« on: September 04, 2017, 05:26:46 PM »
I am pretty sure this is a coin but it's one to task the greatest brains.  20mm diameter and fairly thick.  I can see what looks like II and in the middle there is a large area of tiny parallel lines.  Anyone got any ideas please?  On second thoughts maybe it's not a coin at all.

Looks  like an Oscar II Norwegian 2 ore coin, Howard. Nice!

Seagoon's knowledge of coins is impressive.  How on earth did you manage to identify that coin Dave?  You are spot on with the id.
Thanks.
Howard.

Flattery will get you everywhere Howard!   It's  very simple... I found a similar one before... and occasionally they're reported on the site, or used to be. It was just a case of double-checking on the interweb...  it could've been a 5 ore, but the diameter was of a 2 ore... There... that was an anti-climax, now...   :)
